I try to always have this in mind.
After i took the first one, i thought, i should get closer, and i’m glad i did.

A sudden urge of the film bug, that i decided to start developing some film again. Developed 8 rolls from my current accumulating pile of film. I Haven’t touched the fixer since august last year, but it seemed to still smell so I guess it was still ok. Always great to see things that you don’t remember taking. A dump of a few here, but more to come.

A small sequence of 3 all from different outings which i just found whilst collating files for a recent small book i decided to print for myself for my short visit back home to australia. I figured rather than trying to describe the type of photos i take, it would be more interesting to have something to show in my hands.

I think this got me thinking i should take whatever and whenever, as you never know when it might work or not.

Admittingly I have a shirt like this as well :) Never really go and seek shirts to shoot like these, they just happen to pass by. The camera culture in tokyo extends far and wide.

When I was compiling the pics for this blog post, it just occurred to me that it looks like a spin-off to John’s Tokyo Camera Style. :)

Recent observation

It has been a while since I last shot colour. I think it was the scanning that turned me off. But these were shot a few months back just before rainy season started. Colour definately looks nicer at night, and the rain and wet surfaces accentuate that. None of these turned out how i imagined they would, but nonetheless i think they give a certain mood sometimes that I find harder to achieve with black and white.

Going through a pile of negs and scans, you pick up things which you remember shooting, but subconciously realising how some should be displayed together. Eventually this collection will be part of a “bigger picture” of things, but for now, i’m going to post it here to show, but also for a reminder and reference to look back on.

After i posted the first pidgeon photograph, i had developed a few more rolls and found a few more pidgeon photos which should go together. The last is taken with a rolleiflex TLR which i currently have in my posession (not mine but i wish i had one).
