When kids stop calling you “oniichan (older brother)” and start calling you “ojisan (uncle)” then you know you’ve come of age. A lot of happy (and frowning) faces on this Seijin shiki day. . One mixed with lots of kimonos, police with cameras and a storm trooper.

A good friend has kindly lent this great lens. There isn’t that much information on the web about it, but it is the same lens as the GR21. Little did I realise until the weekend, that it was a rare lens. Only 1000 were ever made in chrome, 700 in black for the leica screw mount. Here are few snaps from it so far. I’ve only around shot 2 rolls with this lens, so eager to try it out more. The pancake size is great, without the hood you can fit it in your jacket pocket. 成人の日に写真を撮りに行くのは初めてです。最近注文したライカも使ってみたっかたです。ちょっとびくりして、おもな交差点は半分が閉まってて、なんか不思議なサーカスみたいのパフォマンスをやってた。 明治神宮にいた時、カメラを持てる人の人数が多くてもすごいびくりしてた。特にパパラジみたいで成人の女性のまわりを丸く囲んで撮りまくってた。 It was a first time for me to bring a camera out and shoot on the “coming of age” public holiday. (and a good chance to use the leica :) ) I went to see if anything was interesting at meiji jingu, which turned out to be an eye opener for me. I was so suprised at how many people had cameras. All sizes, but there were a numerous amount of people with huge zooms on their dslrs. A lot were standing from a distance ‘sniping’ away at the 20 year olds. Whilst in shibuya, they had closed off the main streets and had circus-like performances throughout the day.

Whilst having coffee on this corner with GOM on two different days, we noticed so many courier deliverers going by.

I recently broke one of my most used lens. The 20mm f1.8. I really enjoyed shooting with this lens, day and night, both digital and film. Very wide and very bright, the only downside was the size. Anyways, I headed to ginza one afternoon to check out some second hand camera stores for alternative lens. Along the way I shot a few frames on the FM2 + 28mm. neopan 400. I’ve found photographing to be good form of stress relief and clearing the mind. Didn’t end up buying anything that afternoon, and still confused to what i should get as a replacement.

Awaodori in Koenji last weekend. It was the 2nd time i’ve been to this event. The rain on the night provided nice reflective light off the road.
