I wasn’t planning to shoot things in pairs, but that seems to have happened on a few recent rolls.

成人の日

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

It was a first time for me to bring a camera out and shoot on the “coming of age” public holiday. (and a good chance to use the leica :) ) I went to see if anything was interesting at meiji jingu, which turned out to be an eye opener for me. I was so suprised at how many people had cameras. All sizes, but there were a numerous amount of people with huge zooms on their dslrs. A lot were standing from a distance ’sniping’ away at the 20 year olds. Whilst in shibuya, they had closed off the main streets and had circus-like performances throughout the day. old pics

After taking up photography a few years back, any old photograph that I might have seen before doesn’t look the same anymore. I stumbled upon the archive for the State library of NSW, and whilst i’ve seen many of these on tv programs and old history books, I think it makes an interesting series on its own.

I don’t know how many people cross this famous intersection everyday. All walks of life. Any day and everyday of the year. I shot these with a variety of films. Ilford 3200, and neopan 400/ 1600 films on the FM2.
