2008

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

I never expected photography to become such an addiction. It’s like a therapy, stress reliever. This is only the small selection I uploaded to flickr throughout the past year. Welcoming 2009 :).

Whilst having coffee on this corner with GOM on two different days, we noticed so many courier deliverers going by.

Slapped

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Usually you get peace signs or funny glares from people if you point a camera at them, but for the first time I got slapped on the shoulder by the girl with the white hair after taking this photograph. It wasn’t a scolding, nor was it a big complain, but just a quick spit of words along the lines of “don’t take photos here or of us..”. Don’t know for sure as the whole situation happened so quickly. I can’t tell if she was joking or not, but the whole 2 seconds that it occurred in seemed comically surreal.

Its the season to be jolly

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

At a recent xmas party, I was there to photograph the event. Whilst there were interesting stage performances and comedy acts, I definately found the crowd a lot more exciting and interesting to photograph. When I see them holding sticks and papers and cheering with such joyful faces, and can’t not help think, that this is the same exact pose you see in a stock market exchange, but with completely opposite tense-like expressions. With the current world economic woes, and the festive season just around the corner, I sense irony and whether it really is a season to be jolly.

2 wheels and 2 months

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

It must have taken about 2 months to finish a roll of 36 inside the canonet. Hadn’t really shot with this camera much, but each time i brought it out, it seemed like i took people with bikes or bicycles. After two months I had forgotten when i used this and what i had shot, so i was pleasantly suprised to find a few odd ones. The top one was taken on halloween in Shibuya. I was on my way home, and he just happened to stop at the intersection, so i pulled the camera out as fast as i could, but he gave me the thumbs up faster than i could focus..at the time i wish he didn’t, but now i think it adds to the “coolness” of his outfit.

A short stroll through ginza

Friday, December 5th, 2008

I recently broke one of my most used lens. The 20mm f1.8. I really enjoyed shooting with this lens, day and night, both digital and film. Very wide and very bright, the only downside was the size. Anyways, I headed to ginza one afternoon to check out some second hand camera stores for alternative lens. Along the way I shot a few frames on the FM2 + 28mm. neopan 400. I’ve found photographing to be good form of stress relief and clearing the mind. Didn’t end up buying anything that afternoon, and still confused to what i should get as a replacement.
